What’s special this 70th Independence day

The Republic of India celebrates its 70th Independence Day this 15th August 2016. Most of us would watch the flag hoisting ceremony at Red fort, New Delhi or attend a ceremony locally to participate in Independence celebrations.  Here are few events to watch out for that would make this year’s Independence Day celebration even more special at home.

AR Rahman to perform at United Nations General Assembly


MS Subbulakshmi, the first musician ever to be the recipient of Bharat Ratna, was the first Indian artist to perform at the UN in 1966. After 50 years, AR Rahman is going to be the second Indian artist after MS Subbulakshmi to perform at the UN. He is going to perform at the UN General Assembly in homage to MS Subbulakshmi on India’s 70th Independecne day.
