Asma Javed - Untold Stories of hardworking Single Moms

Asma Javed is an inspiration who had the strength to walk out of a bad marriage. Her true grit and unconditional love for her son have taken her to great heights. Life is a constant roller coaster ride, and thanks to gossip-loving, criticizing, and increasingly judgmental society, single parents, especially moms, find it challenging to fight emotional battles.

Would you please brief our readers about background of Asma Javed?

Asma Javed My Family is a perfect example of unity in diversity. My Grandfather had seven wives, all inter-religion marriages. Even though both of my parents are Muslim, we are a closely-knit family of Christians, Hindus, Serds, and we all love each other.

What role did your parents play in shaping your personality?

Asma Javed Parents, of course, are the definers of values they teach. Their encouragement and support go a long way while a child becomes an adult. Well, in my case, both my parents are not that well educated. However, they got me admitted to a convent school like Somerville Darya Ganj. In 1986, our School shifted to Noida. Back then, studying in Noida was considered unsafe for girls. Yet, my father’s trust in quality education and Hatke soch for his girl child paved the way for my education in one of the best schools in Noida.

Second, came my graduation. I got admission to Miranda House College on my merit, which raised many eyebrows. Again, my parent’s support remained rock solid as always.

What was the one thing that you were aiming for since childhood?

Asma Javed To make my parents proud because they went against the flow, be it my education, marriage, career choice, divorce, or raising my kid.

What was the turning point in your life?

Asma Javed I am a controversial child or let’s say God gives pain to his strong or chosen ones. Ours was an inter-caste love marriage, and I always thought his love for me was unconditional. He was never earning. I bought everything on my own, right from the engagement ring, bangles to his clothes for the wedding, knowing he loves me and cannot afford all these expenses.

Within the first year of marriage, I conceived, and tears of joy rolled down my eyes, soon to turn in the tears of sorrow as the doctor told us they had to terminate the pregnancy as it became life-threatening for me. So, there I was, hollow and empty, running my household on my shoulders with a deep scar inside.

So ALLAH answered my prayers after four years, and my happiness Aryan came to this world on 09.09.11, the happiest day of my life. So I was a mother, wife, and husband of the house. Slowly and gradually, I was doing everything for everyone, and one day I decided to call it quits. Aryan’s father had unconditional love linked only to my ATM card, which soon evaporated.

I hit a rough patch in life. A miscarriage, demanding job, inhuman husband, and on top of that, all the Fatherly responsibilities fell on my shoulders. So, I decided to be a father too and break the pseudo relation, which was parasitic. Facing separation was worse than death. I left my rented house and came to my parents’ house and again they supported me. This whole fiasco broke me as a person and as a woman. However, the mother in me was strong enough to rise again and move on!
